Q&A With Ariya!

Q: I heard your parents are Hip-Hop artists, is that true? A: Yes! I grew up with turntables, mics, and more records, CDs, and mixtapes in the house than you could possibly imagine! My parents have been writing, performing, and educating young artists for decades in Chicago, across the U.S., and internationally. They've always shown me how art can be used as a tool for activism and education, as well as a way to spark joy and excitement. Plus I got an early introduction to the Chicago club and bar scene WAY before I turned 21 (even if they were "all ages" events). "and if you don't know, now you know..." -The Notorious B.I.G. |

Q: What do you like to do when you aren't performing? A: I love putting my thoughts on paper, so I write constantly. I write poems, short stories, and other musings when the moment strikes. I also love long walks, painting, reading, cooking, crochet, daydreaming, and brunch! |
