​ARIYA HAWKINS is a Chicago-based actor, singer, and teaching artist. Hawkins began her training in The ChiArts Musical Theatre program, and is a graduate of Millikin University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. Hawkins has been nominated for The Black Excellence Award for "Outstanding Achievement in Theatre" by the Black Arts and Culture Alliance of Chicago. She was recently seen in The Color Purple  at The Goodman Theatre, which received a Jeff Award nomination. Other recent Chicago credits include RAIN: for babies and their carers (Filament Theatre), LEAF (Lifeline Theatre), and The Promotion (MPAACT). Regional credits include Cabaret (Studio Theatre Tierra Del Sol), Haven (Outer Loop Theater Experience), a hit dog will holler (Artemisia Theatre), Shut Up Kiss Me (PrideArts), and The Bikinis, The Queen Bees, and Vanities: The Musical (Canterbury Summer Theatre). Touring credits include A Raisin in the Sun and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Olney Theatre Center, National Players).  Hawkins firmly believes that theatre belongs to all of us, and we must utilize it as a tool for our collective healing; this mission guides all of her artistic work.
